The Austrian engine and endurosport are inextricably linked to the name Kinigadner. The family from the Zillertal wrote international racing history over two generations. The “Kinis” began their motorcycle career in 1953 with the silver medal on the 1st Tyrolean Alpine ride by Johann Kinigadner senior.

As early as the 1970s, Hansi, Heinz and Klaus Kinigadner successfully entered motocross events. Heinz Kinigadner in particular shaped sport with his world championship titles in 1984 and 1985. However, his commitment extended far beyond motocross: in the 1990s, Heinz increasingly moved his focus on enduro and rallying, with highlights such as participating in the Dakar 2000 Rally.
Despite many sporting triumphs, the history of the Kinigadners is not spared personal blows of fate. In 1984 Hansi plunged heavily on a motocross race in Höhnhart-a spinal cord injury has been forcing him into a wheelchair since then. When son Hannes also fell heavily and paraplegic at a motocross charity race in 2003, Klaus also ended his career in 2004.
